Kanji:

If you go in the Kanji dictionary, under the other mnemonics is a button "Add a mnemonic". Click on it and you'll get the mnemonic creator screen.

In there (on the right hand side just above the input box to enter the mnemonic text) is a "How to use" button that describes how to do it.

Vocab:

If you want to add a mnemonic for vocabulary bring up the word in the dictionary. Click on the 3 dots on the right to bring up the options. Click on add usage note.

Kana:

For hiragana and katakana, on the top menu, Resources -> Kana Charts -> click on the brain icon for the kana you want to add a mnemonic for -> add a new mnemonic

(you can also use the Vocab method to add mnemonics for Kana)

If I want to add a part that is not available in the selection, how do I do that? I see a lot of mnemonics that use parts from kanji that are not a symbol, but I can't figure out how to do that. E.g. the right part of 説 instead of 兌

If you want to add custom components, instead of adding the part after the (), you just leave a blank space after the (), and then it will ask you for the individual strokes that make up your custom component when you press the save button.

Surround each part in parentheses. The colors are chosen automatically.
