Features & Content

〇 Thanks to help from user ・にゃー, we now have a set of grammar lists for Genki I, 3rd edition!

〇 Crowdsourced definition links to words in sentences (for example, noting which meaning of かける is used in a sentence) is now becoming available in the vocabulary dictionary and example lists!

〇 In Manage your Schedules (under Holidays), you can now 'roll back' your account up to 10 days if you suddenly miss a few days and need to get your reviews back in order.

〇 In Manage your Schedules (under Holidays), you can set up holidays (days of the week) that renshuu will avoid when scheduling future reviews!

〇 In Settings > Visuals, you can now choose Light, Dark, or System (so renshuu matches your device's settings)

Improvements

〇 In the stroke order 'drag and drop' style questions, it will now warn you if you have not moved all the pieces.

〇 New set of lists generated for N1, including a good chunk of kanjia that were not present in the old lists.

〇 On mobile, if you have marked a kanji reading as 'do not study', it is now easier to get back to the same panel to undo it.

〇 Better handling of single kanji character searches in vocabulary dictionary.

〇 For grammar model sentences, if the translation language is not English, green markup on the translation is not shown (as it is only keyed to the English).

〇 Handwriting input added to add/remove materials page and list editing

〇 Lightened up some of the A/B/C letters for dark mode (in grammar expressions)

〇 Improved wording on the N4 lesson - Volitional Expanded

〇 Grammar mastery levels now do not drop quite as far as before, balancing out the higher number of questions required to raise the mastery level (compared to vocab, kanji, and sentences)

〇 Added guidance on the dashboard for users who appear to be ready to start learning kanji.

〇 Better popup handling of user ranks (Stats panel on dashboard) on mobile

〇 You can now like and give supporter points to community lists! Ways to search and filter on liked lists coming soon.

〇 Better Apple Pencil detection on the "learn new terms" page.

〇 Rearrange dashboard page has been cleaned up, and widgets from the Stats panel (heatmap, etc.) can now be added to the Dashboard!

〇 Better searching on vocabulary when entering in English search terms (for example, "cold" when looking for さむい)

Fixes

〇 Some sentence audio was getting diced up on Safari/iOS devices.

〇 When viewing word notes on another user's profile, ordering them by a different value will now work correctly.

〇 When viewing 2+ pages of sentence examples for a word, multiple popups were opening.

〇 Sometimes, order of example sentences would change each time you viewed a list, making it hard to get new sentences in pages 2 and up.

〇 Links to certain forum threads were not accessible

〇 When posting to a forum thread of 2 or more pages, you were not sent to the last page after posting.

〇 'Contact Us' form would not save your message if you left it and came back later

〇 Another batch of readings added to kanji dictionary that were mistakenly not included in the update in 2025.

〇 Fixed issue where terms that were previously removed from a schedule could not be re-added from the add/remove materials page.

〇 Zenmaru font was not showing some alpha/punctuation characters on macOS/iOS.

〇 Better sentence binding on , and fix for occasionally wrong word data with the dictionary's "Compare with" links

〇 For some kanji kunyomi readings, tapping "lookup in dictionary" would not find any results.

〇 Rare issue where rare kanji readings that were marked as known by the user but not appearing in quizzing.

〇 Not able to look up 𠮟 (and possibly other characters in the UTF-8 CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block) in the kanji dictionary.

〇 Removed new terms from appearing when using the Extra Review button (and setting to only do new terms after finishing reviews is turned on)

〇 On mobile devices, some word popups were not appearing in sentences when there was unknown kanji in the term

〇 Fixed double X in the quick draw realm popups

〇 Some of the ranks were not appearing for "last week" values in the Stats page of the dashboard.

〇 Even if you had auto-play audio turned on for new terms, it would not play if you marked as term as already known, and a new term came in (with audio)

〇 Furigana text no longer gets copied when copying a block of text out of renshuu.

What happens when I hit rollback? I lost a 180 day streak on my grammar and sentences 5 or 6 days ago because I had to deal with some unpredictable life events, but it is unclear to me what will happen if I hit the "Roll back your account button'?..

Roll back cannot fix streaks. All it does it kinda shift your reviews x number of days. Say you usually get 20 reviews a day. You forget to study for 2 days, so now you have 60. It'll rewind the clock on your account for (for example) 2 days, so you're back to the number of reviews you would have had 2 days prior.
