The coin page says that "more correct answers = better chances at coins" but I've found the opposite to be true - almost (if not) every test I've scored 100% on I've gotten a red capsule. The ones where I've gotten silver I've missed one or two, and the ones where I've gotten gold I've scored in the 80%s. Is it just me experiencing this?
Hm, interesting. I'd say the huge majority of my gold Kaos came from 100% scores, the exceptions possibly being results of a "mercy count" – in other words, gold Kaos dropped from a lower score when it felt like I hadn't gotten one in weeks.
My rare coins chance are only 10% combined and such odds can behave unpredictably, you need thousands of coins to reach statistical significance so probably just random :)
I do know that if you end quiz with only a few responses you get coins from restricted small set of coins so I thought that tooltip meant that generally the longer quiz length, the better coins
I don't typically share the actual calculations, but I can say that if the quiz is REALLY small, then your coins get restricted to a very small pool, and you do not get any bonus points for duplicate coins. This is to prevent users from (the number is higher than this, but just an example) running 1 question quizzes to try and game the machine
