As a student I'm always spending hours trying to study maths and science, and then doing mountains of homework and I can't seem to find even about 1/2 an hour to study some Japanese, does anyone have any techniques or ways to study Japanese in the passenger side of a car or something quick just to help you improve on Japanese but not have sleepless nights stressing about homework and tests before i can drop some lessons around this time next year ,

i need a year of doing Japanese but I can't seem to find time ,in around 2 years time I should be fine kao_cry.pngkao_dejected.png

I also have lots of work to do in my job and by the time I get home, all I want to do is what I love rather than my chores such as emptying the dish washer. Japanese is something I love because of almost every component of it. I also cannot find 1/ 2 an hour only 15 mins max a day. Typically, if you are not cramming for any Japanese exam I should be fine with 15 mins of study a day and I can now order simple food at restaurants in Japanese.

My tip is if you have very little time and would rather spend it on your passions find a reason that you love Japanese and say if it's manga or a TV show you want to understand but there are no english subtitles or whatever other reason, use that as a motivation to learn and before you know it, it doesn't feel like anything you must do but rather, it feels like a passion.

Also って(がんばって) (good luck and hang in there) with all the studies you currently have

Try making Japanese part of your study like translating a few words to Japanese, that helps with writing and reading, reading a few science or study-related books in Japanese with your language’s translationkao_great.png

Doing shorter lessons might help, if you're not doing that already. I set my practice quizzes in Renshuu and WaniKani to be 10-15 words to that I could do a quick practice during breaks from work, downtime in videogames, or free time in the evening. With short practices, it's much easier to fit in more throughout the day than if you're trying to find a continuous 30+ minute block of time for studying.

A little off topic, but can you let me know how to do this in WaniKani? I wasn't aware you could set limits on how long your quizzes are

I don't know how to change it but each quiz that I do has about 40 questions in it so they are very long

I'm not sure if there's a way to do it on the actual WaniKani website, but I mostly practice using the Tsurukame iPhone app which has it under Settings > Reviews > Batch Size.

You can do it with the 3 dots next to each quiz, then press settings and more settings and scroll down a little bit and you can change the number of questions per quiz up to 500 words
