I'm using my time since having heart surgery to try and learn japanese, I have OK days and then I have very overwhelming days where everything feels tough! I'm trying to cast my net out and meet some friends who would be willing to help give me some insight, pep me up and of course just chat when they can ☺️ hope you're all doing well and thabks for reading! I'll put a small bio about me below.

Name: Dan

Age: 37

Lives: Wales, UK

Likes: fishing/fishing, reading, walking, falconry, anime, manga, gaming (I'm sure I'll miss things out)

Hello, Dan, and welcome to Renshuu! It's a great community, you'll see. I'd warmly recommend joining the Renshuu Discord (instructions under the Community tab), as there's always something going on there and it allows actual chatting.

Other than that, the forums are full of past Japanese questions, as well as people's descriptions of their own experiences with learning. I bet most of us can relate to most of us. :)

So enjoy, feel free to ask questions, and be assured it will get better - in language learning like in recovery, you need to trust the process, and it will work its magic. :) って(がんばって)!

The forums are not the greatest way to make new friends but in the General Discussion section, it is possible to find people with similar intrests or learn new things in general. I sometimes go there and discuss random things such as art and anime. If I have a rough day or just feel bored, I sometimes go there and scroll a bit maybe say something.

Hope this helps and って(がんばって) with your learning and recovery kao_fire.png

Thanks for the info and responding ☺️ I will see if I can brave going into the general discussion section!

Thank you! I've joined and just wondering where's best to introduce myself and hopefully meet some like minded folks!

There seems to be a section just for that - scroll down the Renshuu Discord sidebar until you find General -> introductions. Then, depending on your Japanese level and interests, you can take a look at the two "general chat" sections or the "art and music" or "Japanese culture" ones, play shiritori, drop in by the book club (beginner, intermediate and advanced, mostly short pieces), or anything else that strikes your fancy. And if you see this badger around, give a shout. turtle_hi.png
