Hey, anybody know how I can study so I can be N2 level by the time I’m a senior in high school? I’d like to move back to Japan and study. I have until 2030 when I graduate. Anything that is free and helpful would be nice. Thanks!! ^^
I think consistency is key. 15 min every day is better than two hours once a week. Here on renshuu, or on other SRS apps such as Anki, you could up the amount of new terms. If you're able to devote a lot of time per day for all these extra reviews. But it's hard to force language learning into a set time frame. Just be consistent, more time daily might help, more immersion, shadowing if you want to focus on speaking, just practice a lot. Even if you don't get there by senior year, you will have made progress and that is what matters.
If we're talking JLPT level here, and N2 level, I definitely think it's possible to make it to N2 by 2030. Just be consistent and keep going and you'll be able to make it.
I started studying in my junior year of highschool in 2023 and I consider myself N2ish level for now so if you're aiming for that by 2030 I don't think it's impossible.
I started working on Japanese back in 2021, and later this year I'm hoping to take N2 on the JLPT potentially. It also happens that I'm going to be a senior later this year. In other words, 5 years is definitely enough time to get to N2!
Staying consistent is a good thing to do, and also making sure you're immersed in plenty of Japanese content. I even got myself immersed in Japanese stuff before I could understand much of it at all and that has benefited me greatly, as it forced me to learn words and expressions that often don't get taught early on despite being used really frequently.
Also after a few years of study (maybe two or three, but maybe earlier) I think it's a good idea to write a lot in Japanese, both on paper and digitally, to really get thinking in the language while better memorizing the characters.
