how do the Japanese people typically "treat" African Americans?
I know each person is different and that each person is going to be kind or rude depending on their personalities but as a whole, how would anyone say the Japanese view black or colored people? Me and my African American bestie wanna go to Japan together one day (so excited ) and while she hasn't thought about this, I've been giving it some thought and am honestly a bit worried. I don't want to go if they'll be mean or racist to her. Thanks for any and all answers!

From what I've seen in Japan black people are treated just like any other foreigner. A lot of things online like portraying Japan as racist against anyone who's not Japanese but I've seen overall very little evidence of this. A lot of Japanese like foreigners, and foreigners as a whole are basically just one group to a lot of Japanese, regardless of skin color.
If you're interested, there actually was a black samurai in Japan named Yasuke several hundred years ago!
I also have a question about the actual Japan and not the かわいい Japan that people usually show on the internet. Is there a lot of societal pressure on everyone that actually lives there? and if so, how would it best be described?

That’s a really good question
There is societal pressure in Japan, mostly around fitting in and not standing out. It’s quieter and more subtle than people expect, and very different from the “cute” version online, but it’s also part of what makes everyday life there orderly.

yeah, for me personally I really felt it. Just moved temporarily from Japan to the UK and I’m much more relaxed here in daily life than I was in Japan (and I’m not from the UK either). The pressure is essentially not to stand out in any way. That includes your behavior in public spaces but also at work or at home. And there is a right and wrong way to do something for almost everything. From trash sorting, to where to sit during nomikai with your boss, to using chopsticks etc.

yeah I've heard about not standing out, like for example the style known as gyaru, I've heard that gyarus actually get kicked out of their homes for the way they dress and act, also in Japanese schools kids get bullied for being different, but this is kinda sad because then these kids never learn self-expression :(
