I haven't studied for over a week for no decent let alone good reason whatsoever and I am struggling to get back into my habits. Any suggestions on how I could do it?
It hasn’t been that long. Maybe the problem is that you’re bored with the routine you’ve been maintaining so far. Try something different.
You could also just start off small with the stuff you used to do and gradually increase the amount of work over the course of several days.
Even with small stuff, it feels like I suddenly lost all of my motivation as soon as the Christmas holidays (and summer [i live in the Southern Hemesphere where white Christmases are not a thing]) started...(me tight now)
Edit: Sorry if this seems like a personal dilemma. I understand if I get banned
Calm down. It’s not like you’re the first person ever to struggle with this.
Let’s try this: why do you think you’re struggling? Is it just that it used to be fun and now it isn’t?
I guess I've been distracted by other things that appeal to me such as general hobbies though it's the first time it has actually put me off studying
Maybe it's a matter of timing? Find an appropriate time slot where you know you won't be distracted and do your quizzing/studying then. Start small to build the habit, then slowly add more as you need it (or as motivation allows it). E.g. I do my quizzing in the morning right after I wake up, before I even get out of bed. Anything I don't get done then won't get done at all.
Give yourself a small treat for completing a certain number of questions. For example, I really like jelly beans, so something like 1 jellybean per 10 questions. I used this to good effect when I fell months behind studying (not Japanese related). After that, I made an effort not to fall more than a few days behind on studying, as it starts to get overwhelming quickly.
I think you can pause your schedules on renshuu too, so that your reviews don't start piling up while you take a break.
