Forums - suggestions for improving usage notes

Sometimes a usage note can be improved. I would like a way of suggesting improvements. Examples: wrong category, typo, could be rewritten to use the related word feature, etc.

The usage notes already get a pass by myself or a renshuu helper, so most of these are already caught. For the ones that are not caught, I'm not sure I want to create a full system of communication within a single usage note. I am unable (time/support-wise) to manage private DMs, and this would either be that (where you could send a message to the user, as a simple "select the problem with this usage note" would not be sufficient in many cases), or chat underneath a usage note, and I do not think renshuu can handle that level of depth in discussion.

How about something similar to reporting dictionary mistakes? That already doesn't do private DMs or chat.

At the moment, we don't have the bandwidth to handle those reports (and we'd still need to send them to the original user in the end..)

One thing I don't like about the current system is that when 8/10 of my usage notes get "accepted", I have no idea why the other 2 didn't. The whole process feels very obtuse.

Would it be possible to:

a) Clearly indicate when a usage note / answer / mnemonic has been accepted.

b) Provide some very basic feedback in the case it hasn't. I'd be happy with anything.

Edit: I trimmed it down a bit (a lot), sorry if you were in the middle of answering.

Ones that are not approved are not visible to anyone else - that is correct.

The system in place now (which was not there at the beginning, unfortunately), DOES send messages for anything that could use a bit of fixing to make it public.

Got it. Is the first heart always from you or the helper, and does that indicate that it's now public? That's what it feels like, but some more explicit indication would be nice.

"...DOES send messages for anything that could use a bit of fixing..." I think I've only ever had that happen once. Feels like mine get approved at a fairly high rate, so I guess that's why. Or at least that's probably one of the reasons.

Just one more question - is it possible for someone to like my notes if they aren't approved? Like through "My Writing"?

I won't bother you any further, I know you're busy with other things :)

Is the new usage note approval system happening? Could that be also used for this?

Yes, the first is from me or the helper.

Most people do get most/all of their notes approved - it takes "a lot" of work by the original author to make a response necessary.

I haven't specifically checked, but I do not believe they'll be able to see your notes under Writing unless they are approved.

How should usage notes be reported? Here's one I randomly found just now. The content of that note may also be wrong...

Everything I described before has been up (for many months). There is not a way to report usage notes that already exist.

The only ones I feel like I/we could reasonably reply to are ones where the bindings are wrong (but the content of the note is just fine). I can fix the one you posted above.

For others, I'd recommend just blocking the note.
