このでドライブスしながら、よくした。
このをドライブスしながら、よくした。
I think 1st one would be correct.

The one with を (if we remove the extraneous ス)

このをドライブしながら、よくした。

It's using this grammar:

Over A; across A; along A

Thx sorry about the typo. But で gives the location of an action so here the action of driving is on the road.

The location of the action is moving, so when your moving along, across, over, on a path you use を instead of で.

を is only used for verbs of motion like walking, driving, etc.

Here's an example sentence from the dictionary.

この道を歩き続けたらきます

It is confusing, but it's one of those things that you eventually get used to.

Just so it doesn't feel so strange anymore: English has it too, in a way, with expressions in which movement-related verbs take a direct object. You say you "walk that road", "walk the distance", "drive that route", or "run a marathon".

I also remember reading a very helpful forum post here that contrasted "walking in the park" with "walking through the park, crossing it and going out the other side" in terms of Japanese particles, but I can't seem to find it now.

I had other doubt with the てある too. Is it that we have to use transitive and not intransitive? Why is that?
