Short and sweet Rujinu ^^ Merry Christmas everyone! :D
Jinu had a whole lot to learn about being in human society. One of those things were modern foreign holidays.
Now, Jinu (having lived under an actual rock for hundreds of years) did not know anything about Christmas.
Rumi knew about Christmas though, and wanted to celebrate it with him. For some reason. He didn't know that yet but he was going to find out.
She invited him out on a date that day, something about waking around and seeing a lights show which I will remind you Jinu hasn't the foggiest why all of these lights suddenly appeared around his tiny Seoul apartment that Rumi helped him get.
So, logging into his laptop (one that he had used for various things before this point and only some of them were illegal) he searched up what Christmas was.
And boy did he find a lot.
In South Korea, it's celebrated as a couple's holiday. Obviously it only became a national holiday because of the Christian influence around the country, but most of the less than religious in that area spent it going on dates and enjoying Christmas lights.
Which is probably what Rumi was planning on doing.
Jinu however saw that there was quite a lot of potential missed. He read a lot of articles about how other people celebrated Christmas and even read a few books on the subject just to make sure he wasn't misunderstanding anything (the last time he misunderstood something it was very embarrassing for everyone involved so he was determined to do better).
He practiced some Christmas songs with his fellow band members even just to see if he could manage to do the whole "caroling" thing. Which he could. He was great at it, even. Although the dancing was a bit much..
He learned a lot about the Christian Christmas (which is why the whole holiday ever came to be in the first place) and how it was celebrating the birth of a king. Jinu thought this was really cool but was a bit confused on how the coming of a king had turned into a couple's holiday.
But that bit didn't matter right now, he could talk about that later. For now he wanted to get a gift for Rumi.
He went online shopping and found a beautiful amethyst necklace that was carved into a heart that reminded him of her. He knew that traditionally in South Korea, some people didn't do gift exchanges but he wanted to do something for Rumi because she was the one who helped him forgive himself and be released from Gwi-ma's grip.
He made some extra cash with a few solo videos of him singing Christmas songs online so he could buy the necklace and waited like an excited child for Christmas day.
So when the day arrived, he donned the customary ugly sweater and filled a cookie tin with some fudge among other sweets that Baby Saja had helped him make.
And running his hand through his hair for what had to have been the forty ninth time— he stepped out of his door, and began to make his way to his beloved.
Now, what had Rumi been doing in preparation for this most anticipated event?
Quite a bit of freaking out. She was going to be hosting her boyfriend for Christmas, after all. All gifts and food aside simply making sure her house was ready was a feat in itself.
This was her first boyfriend, and her first Christmas spent with him of hopefully many more.
So she ordered the usual fried chicken which was what she would usually eat on Christmas and waited patiently for the doorbell to ring sitting in her unusually clean living space in a somewhat uncomfortable silence.
In spite of Jinu's extremely innocent enthusiasm (which usually leads to war crimes somehow I mean what even) (Jinu has been almost arrested three times and was banned from using the computer at Rumi's house after the incident with the crabs) ("You can get yourself on the FBI blacklist, not me" is what she said and she stuck to it), the evening went surprisingly well.
At first it was awkward, but eventually they started to enjoy themselves more as the night went on. Rumi insisted they marathon Home Alone (which obviously Jinu had never seen) and Jinu only misspoke three times when he was presenting his gift to her.
Christmas was an unqualified success!
Bit short and stuff but hopefully it's nice enough :]
