All kinds, but many don’t work very well. The main thing I emphasize is to focus on one thing at a time. Every character has multiple readings, a radical, a stroke order and a bunch of vocabulary. You can’t possibly learn all that at once and expect it to stick.

Also, just do one character at a time. By default, renshuu gives you six new characters with every quiz. That’s fine if you’re catching up on things you’ve already learned in the past, but for new material it’s overwhelming. Consider changing your quiz settings to introduce just one or two new terms.

Finally, take advantage of the unique customizable mnemonics that renshuu offers. Your mnemonic is your opportunity to put everything that you want to remember about a character in one easily accessible place. You’ll see it every time you review the character. Be sure to review it carefully and improve it if you can.

Sorry, there was an error on renshuu! If it's OK, please describe what you were doing. This will help us fix the issue.
