As of November 1st, 2025, we are making a few changes to our donations system:
1. We've been with the same NPO for quite some time, and are looking for a new one! (Finding good NPOs in Japan is harder than you'd think). In the meantime, we will have a temporary new target for our donation activities:
交通遺児基金https://www.pref.niigata.lg.jp...This is not an NGO/NPO specifically, but a specific public fund that is used to support activities for orphans in Niigata prefecture, specifically ones for those who lost their parent(s) in traffic accidents.
While most of schooling in Japan is free, there are still many things that cost money during one's day-to-day lives as a young student. This fund helps these children participate in after school activities, school trips, and more.
2. renshuu has continued to hold onto the same price points for several years now, despite just about everything in the world getting more expensive. Our material expenses continue to grow (primarily for servers and costs for development), and we have started moving to
pay renshuu users directly to help with certain parts of renshuu's upkeep! I'd absolutely love to expand this out to more people in the future.
Because of this, we are changing the way in which we calculate the donation amounts. The 5% donation will come from the overall revenue minus all non-employee costs (that would be myself and my wife, Saki, whose voice and artwork you are all familiar with).
Thank you for your understanding and support!
PS: If you know of a good NPO/NGO that is in Japan (and registered as a NPO/NGO in Japan), please let me know in the thread below. We do require that they post their financial reports each year so that we can make sure the money is going where it belongs.
