エマ - so I'm looking at what you reported. You are correct in what you recall (for おかわり): kanji > def was near 100%, and def > kana was high as well. You did not have multiples for this one, so it was just a transferal of mastery from the alternate version to the primary version. I, then, do not see any mastery data getting lost, at least on the backend. If you are not seeing those two mastery levels where you see the term, please shoot me some screenshots so I can look into it more. Might not be the mastery levels, but something else?

@Ace2 - Your schedules rolled over to the new day, but the kanji visibility issues should be fixed (and I'll roll out a patch for all users of the tool). It *might* have fixed the "not starting" issue as well, so let me know how that goes.

I'd like to volunteer too! But as soon as I click on 'Merge Terms' on Renshuu app (Android), it shows me this error.

For my case: the versions of the words with kanji were duplicates, and the (previously unstudied) versions with only kana were chosen as the canonical form.

So, they don't have a mastery level at all for kanji -> meaning, because they don't have kanji. I'm planning to manually set their level for kana -> meaning, which wasn't a vector that I had been studying for words that contain kanji.

I used the word merger yesterday. Today I noticed I have 11 unstudied words on my schedule. All of them are words that I merged.

Additionally, there is a bug in the merge tool. Here is a screenshot of a missing checkbox.

And a feature request... Can there be a uncheck all button for the top half? Or maybe start them out unchecked and add a check all button. I did a partial merge and don't want to merge the rest of the words in the top half. I haven't fully gone through the words in the bottom half, and I won't until the bug above is fixed.

I'll probably not be adding anything to it, as it is meant to be a one-time use tool that will effectively disappear once people have used it.

Can you give specifics on the terms that you're having issues with in your schedule?

How is the tool going to be one time use? I don't think anything is in place to prevent the need for merging word mastery in the future. For example, I could learn a variation of a word, and I'd want to use the merger to fix them, right? I've been trying to keep track of words like this, but some words have slipped through. I'd like to keep using the merger, maybe once a year or something. Or possibly even better, detect "bad" words before they even get scheduled.

I am attaching 4 screenshots of words that are in my schedule that are at mastery 0%. In each case, the term is also in a different schedule, but with a non-zero mastery.

The tool is simply not meant to be used outside of the strict parameters of fixing the data to align with the renshuu materials. I can see what you're requesting, and a tool like that may be useful in the future, but the current tool is so far separated from what would be needed (internally) that it may as well be a "new tool" made from (mostly) scratch.

Ok, here is what most likely happened. You've got two versions, the "common" and the "rare" one. Your renshuu-linked schedules got the rare one replaced with the common one (with the common one getting all the mastery), and per the options you chose, the rare one was removed from your account (the mastery data, that is).

However, in your schedule, you've got the old one. By default, renshuu did not touch the contents of user-made schedules. So, it's seeing the rarer term as being new, and trying to study it for the first time.

If that sounds like what is happening to you, I could probably extend the tool to allow for the replacing action to take place in all non-renshuu schedules as well.

I see. Yes, I guess that is what is happening.

Question: If I previously blocked the "common" term in favor of the "rare" term because I tried to deduplicate terms, would this have unblocked the common term, or would it still be blocked? If it's still blocked, that would mean I wouldn't be studying the term anymore, right?

This process did not adjust any of the "blocked"/"do not study" values for the terms.
