I like several of the songs by Creepy Nuts for Yofukashi no uta. Yofukashi no uta, Daten, Losstime, Mirage. There are a couple of other popular songs like Otonoke and Bling Bang Bam Born but they don’t resonate with me.
Garnidelia has some nice catchy pieces.
The various Super Dimensional Fortress Macrosses produced some nice music. There’s a girl group with a real life equivalent Walkure.
May’n has done some nice pieces.
For Kocchi no Kento- Hai Yorokonde. Any working adult can sympathize.
Of course, I have many recommendations. One of my favorite bands of all-time is BUCK-TICK. Seriously, a phenomenal group of individuals who are incredibly talented in their craft- absolutely legendary! Check out any song of theirs, from the 80s all the way into the 2000s and even now in the 2020s- it is sure to be unlike anything you've listened to before (at least imo). There are so many gems I could barely list them all!
If you're into 80s/90s rock/alt music, Japan has some seriously impeccable bands. 黒夢(KUROYUME)、GLAY、PENICILLIN、D’ERLANGER、LUNA SEA、DER ZIBET、DEAD END、BOØWY、and of course X-JAPAN (and, imo, more specifically the legend himself, hide! his music is beyond words, even today!) are a good array of some serious legends. Another recommendation is SOFT BALLET, if you enjoy new wave!
If you enjoy more current artists, I can definitely recommend YUTA (中本悠太）、as his music is seriously gaining some traction- if you like artists like MIYAVI or HYDE/L'arc~en~Ciel, you should definitely check him out! (shameless promo, i love him lol). If you like other genres, I can't help there lol but the niches are incredibly varied, definitely check out anything and everything!
