Hello everyone,
I've been studying for quite a while now and am slowly preparing to take the N4 this December.
I was wondering if there's a way to study kanji combinations in Renshuu? The kanji schedules I have are focused on individual readings and meanings, which of course also show related vocabulary, but I’d like to be quizzed specifically on various kanji combinations.
I’ve also noticed that quite a few kanji combinations are starting to show up in my vocabulary schedule as well, but I was wondering if there’s a schedule, setting, or feature that would let me focus specifically on those?
Thanks in advance.
If I'm understanding correctly a "word-helper" schedule might be what you're looking for? I add my related vocab manually, so I'm not sure exactly how they work.
That does indeed look interesting, I'll give it a try later on.
Thanks!
Keep in mind it generates a word for each available reading. For example, when I tested it just now, it generated both 姿勢 and 姿. I don't really care about 姿, but I don't see a way to stop it from generating. I also got stuff like 光 and 光る. In my mind, both of those are covered by the kanji schedule itself. 観光 got generated, which is fine.
There's also the problem of it potentially generating words that might not be the best fit for you.
Personally, I'd rather add a few compound nouns manually for each reading I'm interested in. Maybe there's a way to force the "word-helper" to only give you compound nouns, but I don't see it.
Oh, and if you're just following the recommended Schedules you should get enough "kanji combinations" 熟語 for the test (N4).
Edit: There's also "Complete the Vocab" and "Kanji Crosses" (both Pro Advanced question types) that quiz you on compound nouns. You can try those, if you have Pro. The way they pull vocab can be a little weird though.
Wow, thanks for all the information! I've been using Renshuu for quite a while now, but only in a very basic manner, as a study companion to the course I'm taking.
The more I look into it, the more I realize how much stuff is available and how customizable it is.
