I want to learn icicle as 氷柱 (which are the "rarely written as" kanji) and added it as such, but the schedule only shows its reading without the actual kanji. Normally, the reading is learnt first and gradually you will se the kanji, this is fine and I like it that way. However, the kanji should still show in the word list and when seeing the word for the very first time (when the new terms are being introduced at the start of a session; I unfortunately missed to capture it). Neither happens here, and I can't seem to find a way to add the rarely read kanji to the schedule.
I could just add the kanji as a new word, and it is not that big of a deal, but it would be nice if there was a way to add those uncommon kanji in particular.
If I am reading your report correctly, this is expected behavior and not a bug. There are ways to get the behavior you want. I recommend you try the new experimental setting 'Study rare kanji' toggle for individual words
This is only partially done - but if you want to enable it so you can start marking up the terms to use with this setting, you can! The setting will appear under the ... link for vocabulary in dictionary/lists
