I figured out how to practice writing the kanji on the app when learning new kanji… however, is there a better way to practice writing? What are the ways we can practice writing using the app?

Hi there! There a couple ways to get your writing practice in on here, but unless I'm mistaken a good amount of the writing features are available through Renshuu Pro so you may or may not need that.

If you have Pro, it opens up Writing as part of your quizzes, clicking the blue "Settings" link on your kanji schedule will open up a menu like shown above, where clicking on "Writing" fully opens the options as shown. I prefer "only hints", but it's up to you to find your fit :)

Next up is the Games menu where you can practice writing as part of a minigame. Click on Quick Draw from the Games menu in the sidebar and then select the Salmon Island for this.

When you do, it'll ask you what settings to use for this round. Select either Groups or Schedule, and then pick the one you want to study, adjust how many characters to study and then click Play.

Additionally, handwriting kanji in a notebook is always a recommendation of mine, especially writing sentences and words from memory, since it's easy to pick kanji out of the keyboard on the phone, but if you're anything like me when you have to write something on paper your mind blanks out on the kanji! Plus your pen and paper handwriting might not be as pretty if you don't do a little of that - but then again maybe it's just a me issue (haha!)

Hope this helps :)

For my vocab schedules I use the Kana → Kanji vector, with Type/write the answer when possible option selected. Then I use the handwriting input tool to write the kanji.

That lets you practice writing the kanji that you see in your vocab.

Dude I had no idea you could do kanji in there too!! You are an actual LIFESAVER. I saw the legend that shows the colors for hiragana and katakana so i assumed it was only for that. Alas i have only one き point to give but seriously thank you!!
