Hi! Today I opened renshuu and saw that all sentences became hiragana. I have changed the renshuu server to the European one and turned on faster assets from experimental settings, but turning those back doesn't seem to fix the issue. (Maybe totally unrelated)
Issue persists on both mobile app and desktop web site (Opera GX 118.0.5461.76).
The kanji display ("Kanji I study on renshuu" checkbox in particular, as I have no kanji level set up) in vocabulary settings seems to "fix" (as it technicaly is working properly) kanji in sentence quizzing but only partialy ha ha.
The problem might? be with vocabulary quiz, as it does the opposite of settings choice.
As I have no clue what else might have broken it, I am sorry for not being able to provide an bug replication steps.
I don't know whether anyone else has encountered this problem.
Please forgive me for probably explaining it in misleading manner.
Kind regards
Sorry for the delay in getting to you - Golden Week just ended here in Japan.
I just tried a rebinding of the data in your account -let me know if that helps!
No worries!
Unfortunately the problem still occurs. When "Kanji I study on renshuu" is turned off Kanji are being displayed normally for vocabulary quizes and as if those haven't been studied in the first place for grammar/sentences and vice versa when option is turned on.
Weird, well it doesn't break functionality of renshuu so I don't really mind changing settings for respective quizes. :P
Let's work on getting a single word or sentence example that we can focus on for testing. I'd much rather get this fixed than have you needing to change settings repeatedly.
First, get all the settings the way you want them (assuming everything works), then get me a single word or sentence that exhibits the problem. No need to show me before/after, just a "all the settings I want are turned on, and here is how it looks."
Okay.
So let's take 弁護士 as an example. I kave "Vocabulary" > "What kanji should be displayed in vocabulary" > "Kanji I study on renshuu" turned on, which as far as I understand should make the term being written with kanji.
Here is how it looks ("Show unknown kanji in grey for extra visibility" turned on for illustrating that kanji becomes not known):
Surprisingly by reviewing Kanji→meaning and Kanji→kana vectors to force using kanji in "Advanced Words (N1)" schedule (mainly N1 phrases + some other materials), quiz size of 500, some actually do come up. Namingly:
(I would like to add that kanji quizing works properly)
殺 局 版 威 奥 彩
Inside the quiz 郵便局 looks like this:
With that having been said, turning "Kanji I study on renshuu" off returns every term being written in kanji to normal, but then sentences become problematic.
Hope that helps. If there's anything in particular I should do about the issue, let me know.
Sorry for the delay! I made one more reset, which fixed 弁護士.
Now, if you can confirm that 弁護士 works for you, I'd like to see if we can identify a minimal number of steps that can be taken to knock 弁護士 out of place. If we can do that, then I am confident we can put in a fix.
Yes,
I can confirm that 弁護士 works, as well as each of the other terms.
Sentences and grammar are also displayed properly, which means that in the current state everything works fine.
