First update to this project!
1. Monthly reports are now going out for your contributions.
2. Usage of this data in sentences will be REAL SOON.
Potential changes
1. Considering a setting so that if you mark a sentence, and your marking is what puts it into "accepted" category (each marking needs a certain number of independent entries to be validated), get a little bit of text letting you know.
2. Considering a setting: if you mark a definition that ends up getting rejected, get an inbox message letting you know the sentence, word, what you chose, and what was voted in.
3. Possibly adding this (optionally) on the quiz finish page, limiting it to word quizzes where you got the word correct, helping further reinforce what you just studied.
The sentence tagger seems to have the wrong counter. The name is wrong and the value doesn’t change.
I like the transparency, and the idea of the inbox message. Some users (including myself) had inadvertently spammed wrong answers due to UI issues (and I had previously offered to return my Kao Garden coins and have my entries rolled back). It would be great to see my rejected answers and the accepted ones, for my learning.
Text and counter fixed! I had adjusted the timestamps on the markings to better handle the reports, and that was causing issues.
I would still like to request a direct means of reporting an issue with a sentence that shows up, rather than having to search through the sentence library to find that one sentence out of many that have something common, like "にとって" or "通って".
Yes, something like a dictionary icon that takes you to the sentence entry in the dictionary.
I'll get that added soon.
As to the visuals in the sentence, here is a quick example of a selected term
So, this is one option - the selected definition gets elevated up to the #1 location.
Alternate option (I prefer this one)
Hmm. Speaking for myself, I’d prefer a highlight that doesn’t reorder the definitions. I get confused when things move around.
I prefer the second one for its clarity. (I have no idea how a color blind person deals with issues such as highlighting for emphasis.)
I might go for the first one, but I will absolutely not keep it from being re-ordered. If you have a 20 definition list such as かける, I don't want them to have to scroll to find it, nor do I think auto-scrolling to the middle of the definitions (or wherever it happens to be) is ideal either.
If you aren’t going to keep the senses in order, then I’m not sure what point there is in even showing the other senses, especially if there are that many of them.
Don’t show me a word that doesn’t have any sentences.
