I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm just unclear on how it works. What changes happen if I accept? Is there a benefit to them or me if I accept? (I wouldn't say no to being included in private shiritori games. Is that possibly where this is going?)

Happens to me also..
When I come back on renshuu, I could see some unknown new players friending me, I just decline it ( I also feel bad at the same time kao_rocking.png)
I don't think there is any benefit of adding friends, its just you get to know them
Maybe they add you as a friend because maybe they find something in us that is common or unique or just for fun..
I don't add friends who are inactive or maybe appear on renshuu in like once a month neko_laugh.pngneko_laugh.png

I thought maybe it was to share word lists, grammar notes, etc., if you have privacy setting to "friends only." Or just a gesture of goodwill to build a sense of community, like "let's be friends" :)

Private shiritori and also they are in your friend list and other things. Also it's not really an accepting thing, because if they friend you you're in their friend list no matter whether you friend them back or not, it's just whether you want them to also be your friend or not
