Forums - Bug in kanji quiz based on a kanji helper schedule?

I've used the kanji helper schedule to make some kanji schedules, and I have an issue.

The schedule adds some unusual readings for the kanjis, which is working as intended. But quizzes on these readings seems to be bugged.

We can see I have 5 correct readings marked in green, and 3 incorrect readings marked in red. We see that けわ.しい was supposed to go with , while と.ぐ was supposed to go with . But where is マイ supposed to go? It's marked in red as a mistake, but it's not included in any of the white text telling me what the expected answers are.

I've had the same issue before and reported it through the question mark and "Report a quiz error", but I don't think my explanation there was good enough to show the issue, and I think this screenshot helps, so I posted here too.

When I got back to this question, I tried not placing マイ at any kanji at all. I placed just 7 out of the 8 readings, submitted the answer, and it was accepted as correct.

I believe there's some bug that causes some readings to be added to the input part of quizzes, but not to the expected/required answers.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

The extra readings are intended to make it harder, by forcing you to recognize erroneous readings that don't fit anywhere. (You are not supposed to place the erroneous readings on any kanji)

To turn this feature off:

Kanji schedule -> Settings -> Readings -> choose an option other than "with extra readings"

Thank you for taking the time to try to help me, I appreciate it. If I understand you correctly, you're stating that マイ does not go with any of the 6 kanji, and it is placed there to test me, to see if I know that. But it does go with one of the kanji:

I believe the options you're referring to just determines if the amount of readings to be linked with kanjis is 1 per kanji, 1-2 per kanji, or any amount per kanji. It could be that "with extra readings" does add false answers, but I'm on the "1-2 readings per kanji" setting, not "with extra readings".

I've used the 1-2 readings per kanji setting for some time, and I think it's just with the new kanji helper schedules that not all readings have been required. I believe it has never been the case for me that some readings do not match any kanji before I started using the new kanji helper schedules.

My apologies, I missed that reading for rice, and thought you were dealing with extra readings that didn't belong to any kanji (which is what the "with extra readings" setting gives you).

For these matching questions you only need to match one valid reading per kanji to pass the exercise. However, matching any incorrect readings to a kanji will get the question marked as incorrect.

If you match a reading to a kanji, that is valid, even if you have it marked as a reading that you don't know, it will be accepted.

So, in this case:

- You could put マイ on the rice kanji and it will accept it (and it will be added as part of the Correct Answers), but you don't really have to because you have べい there which will get the check mark anyway

The fill in the blank kanji reading questions work similarly. One valid reading per input box is enough (even if it is a reading you have marked as one you don't know), but any invalid reading will cause it be incorrect.

Thank you for expanding and clarifying.

I would still want the misplaced reading to not just be marked as incorrect where I placed it, but also be told where it could have been placed in cases where it does belong to one of the kanji.

I'll keep that in mind as a possible improvement to that particular quiz mode, thanks!!
