One thing you can do is reduce the number of new terms per day until you have gone through your backlog. Play around with the numbers to slow the pace down to something you are comfortable with.

For each of your schedules, click on settings -> more settings, then change "New terms per quiz" to a manageable number and I would also maybe check the "No new terms until all reviews done" checkbox.

Another thing you can do is freeze some of your schedules so you can concentrate on the remaining ones. Click on the manage my schedules link on the dashboard for this. You can unfreeze schedules later and continue exactly where you stopped.

I reduce my quiz size to something like 10 or 20 per quiz. That way I can do my reviews in small batches, on my break at work or during commercials while watching sports.

That way, even though the number of items I have to review is the same, I do them in smaller batches and it tricks me into thinking that I have less.

But also limiting new terms or freezing schedules, as you need to, is good as well.

Absolutely reduce the schedule pace. The starting one is way too high. I stick with 20 new words a day, plus 5 kanji and grammar when I feel like doing grammar. When you’re only doing words you could probably increase it. And yeah, reduce the quiz size too. It’s a lot easier to make yourself do five minutes of work than twenty.
