dumb question, whats the best order to learn? currently doing "Words for japanese basics" and "Japan basics" Should i just follow whats on the "What to study next" tab, which is "beginner Kanji" and "Beginner japanese/n5" and what else should i be doing on the app to maximize my study?
The premade schedules each build on what you learn in the previous one, so you should only start the next schedule when you have finished the one before it, or else you'll run into situations where you're being tested on things you haven't learned yet.
However, you don't have to use the premade schedules at all if you don't want to. The only aspect of learning Japanese where the order really matters is with foundational & beginner grammar; everything else is just steady accumulation that can be acquired from any source in any order you like. You can check Community Lists in the menu for lots of options other users have made for materials to study with, or you can make your own lists.
gillianfaith said it all well, honestly, the pre-made schedules have been a great help for me to just focus on learning instead of having to organize a list/study materials since they are already well organized and a good follow-up to each other as you learn throughout it. (gillianfaith also appears to have made some great lists too you can see if you open his profile and scroll down)
Also, you can change how much you can learn from a schedule per day on its settings, I find the cap to how much you can learn on the pre-made schedules low so i adjusted mine, maybe that could help you if you feel like you can learn more in the day but stalls due to the cap.
If you want to maximize from what renshuu offers along with that, I guess the games probably could help with it? I still have to try them out, the simplest one is Quick Draw, and when you click on a schedule you'll see a menu for Puzzle to generate a crossword of all the words within the schedule which I've started doing and definitely find it helpful to make you recall the words from memory other than the quizzes, I'd love to hear from people who plays the other games though, hopefully someone reads this and can clarify on those others.
I see you haven't done Kanji yet, in case you are avoiding it like me I did for finding it overwhelming, some people gave some great advices in a topic on
Top > 日本語を勉強しましょう / Let's study Japanese! > Anything About Japanese > Does anyone else find Kanji overwhelming to learn?
