Forums - Manually changing mastery levels

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find the answer within a reasonable timespan.

What happens when you manually increase the mastery level for a term? I'm assuming it will substantially delay the next occurrence the term shows up? But since I've noticed that this feature doesn't change mastery for any particular vector of that term, what happens next time you get a question about it and answer correctly? Will the vector corresponding to that type of question move up automatically later then, to match the "artificially set" mastery? And if answered incorrectly, would the overall mastery drop on a lower level than it was before the manual changes, or just by "a bit" as it is set in settings?

In most situations (except for the Advanced Search, where you can adjust mastery levels on a per-vector basis), it will do the following:

1. Adjust the mastery level of all vectors

2. Looking up the usual delay for that level, it will schedule the next review for those vectors as that many days from today.

So, the next time you get a question, it would presumably be because it was schedule for review after #1 and #2 took place.

In the end, changing them manually does not transform the mastery system into anything new, it just brings the mastery up or down to where you set it, then it continues to act and react as normal. It completely forgets what the old mastery levels were.

So if you miss it, it would drop by whatever amount is in your settings :)

Thank you for the answer! I've attached some screenshots that show the UI before and after you change mastery; there it doesn't display any change in vectors' percentage (or level), only in the overall mastery. Should I make a UI/UX suggestion somewhere then? That's why this feature felt confusing

It's a visual thing, which means I'll get around to it eventually, but it's not high-priority (since it should appear correctly the next time you see the term). That's just the reality of my current time restrictions.
