I was just looking at some word usage notes I had made several months ago and noticed that even though they are marked as public, they aren't showing up publicly. Looks like they only show up for me. Is this normal?
Some of the usage notes are working while others aren't. I can't see any difference in how they are input on my end, or am I doing something wrong?
I cannot comment on any specific usage notes (there are simply too many, and I cannot manage the number of responses that might come in), but if a usage note was marked as inappropriate for public (due to correctness, appropriateness, or any other reason), it is not visible to others, but will still appear as public to you.
I can say that in general, for ones that are correctly written, then #1 reason that some mnemonics are not accepted is because there is too big of a jump between the word itself and the work used in the text. It's a case-by-case thing, but the mnemonic should not get so close as to make a strong connection, but make a connection to the wrong pronunciation.
A couple of the key ones that come out are people swapping out the inflected and non-inflected forms (like け and げ) between the word and the mnemonic, or switching out vowels (word has お, but their English is clearly using a U sound).
Things like inflected forms can be really had to remember, so (as an example) I would reject a mnemonic that uses kenki for the word げんき, because that would add too much conflicting info into the user's knowledge.
I do apologize for the lack in clarity here - I could add a reason marker for why a mnemonic is not added, but I'm trying to manage being able to verify all the usage notes that come in (which I'm barely able to do) and keep my messaging with users from getting to be too much of a burden.
