I'm terribly sorry to bring up a topic that's not about Japanese in a Japanese app! I've made it my last resort, and I'm desperate for information and guidance. I'm currently practicing German and French, in addition to Japanese. Luckily, I've managed to find engaging learning resources for Japanese (thanks to you guys!) and for French too. However, my main focus, German, has been a struggle. I haven't been able to find any engaging apps or resources to practice the language. My level is C1. (As an ill person, due to the nature and degree of my illness) after constantly struggling to practice German using my depressing apps, I'm no longer able to carry on, which is frustrating. I don't want to degrade or lose the level I've reached in the language. I'm eager to continue learning and eventually make it my second native tongue. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me find engaging, free resources that are data-consumption efficient to practice the language. I wanted to rely on manga in this regard, since it's my biggest passion, but I've noticed it's really heavy in data consumption. Do you have any ideas for engaging resources that don't have these drawbacks?

Thank you in advance

C1 is already pretty highkao_think.png I would recommend reading books corresponding to your language level. I've found it to be the best way to uphold my knowledge level in a foreign language, when I don't have the chance to speak the language day to day.

You could also try reading news articles if a whole book seems too stressful.

I'm truly grateful to you! I'll try the idea of reading a book, as news articles aren't my favourite style in reading. Thank you once again! kao_yoroshiku.png

It's great to hear that you're dedicated to learning multiple languages, including German! Here are some engaging and data-efficient resources that can help you practice German at a C1 level:

  1. Podcasts:
    • "Slow German": This podcast features slow, clear German spoken on various topics, making it easier to understand while still being engaging.
    • "Deutsch – warum nicht?": A series of podcasts from Deutsche Welle that cover various topics and are designed for different levels, including advanced learners.
  2. YouTube Channels:
    • Easy German: This channel features street interviews with subtitles, allowing you to hear natural spoken German while reading along.
    • Learn German with Anja: Anja provides engaging lessons on various topics, and her energetic style makes learning fun.
  3. Language Exchange Apps:
    • HelloTalk: This app allows you to connect with native German speakers for language exchange. You can practice writing and speaking while helping others learn your native language.
    • Tandem: Similar to HelloTalk, Tandem connects you with language partners for conversation practice.
  4. Reading:
    • Project Gutenberg: This site offers a vast collection of free eBooks in German, including classic literature. You can download them for offline reading.
    • Short Stories: Websites like "Café-Linguistique" offer short stories in German that are suitable for advanced learners.
  5. Online Courses:
    • Deutsche Welle (DW): They offer free online courses for various levels, including advanced learners. Their materials are well-structured and engaging.
    • Duolingo: While it may not be as engaging for advanced learners, you can use it to maintain your skills with quick exercises.
  6. Flashcards:
    • Anki: This spaced repetition flashcard app allows you to create your own decks or download existing ones. You can focus on vocabulary, phrases, or grammar points relevant to your interests.
  7. Audiobooks:
    • Audible: If you have access to Audible, you can find a range of German audiobooks. Listening to books can be a great way to immerse yourself in the language without heavy data consumption.
  8. News Websites:
    • Deutsche Welle (DW) News: Reading news articles in German can help you stay informed while practicing your language skills. They often have articles tailored for learners.
  9. Language Learning Communities:
    • Reddit: Subreddits like r/German and r/languagelearning can provide support, resources, and recommendations from fellow learners.

By combining these resources, you can create a diverse and engaging learning experience that suits your needs and preferences. Good luck with your German studies, and remember to take breaks and practice self-care as needed!

See for French, I will highly suggest Rocket languages ( It contains all languages ) ( additonally Duolingo for building Sentences ). I have these experiences cuz my friend, has reached B1 level just with duolingo. After reaching it he faced problems . Even though he mastered full French like all words, he just couldn't comprehend the words in French movies cuz it was too fast. So, now he is competing in speaking so I will suggest Rocket languages.
AND what happen to your health?
