Would it be possible to add something like this? You'd type in one of the english meanings of a word, then it'd get checked with the meanings of the word in the card. Just like the type-in answers for meaning > japanese except the other way around.
I’m sure it would be possible, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. The English (or whatever language you are using) meanings are pretty arbitrary, sometimes misleading and occasionally incorrect. They are of educational value only: they are never used when speaking, reading or writing Japanese.
The only “meanings” that matter are the kun’yomi, which are admittedly also arbitrary, but are at least actually used by Japanese speakers and thus more or less standardized.
It would require an additional check in the process of having the user compare their answer to the stated answer, then decide if they think they were right enough.
I suggest an alternate: go into the settings (menu > settings > Quizzing), then hide the multiple choice answers. That way, when you have a question, think of the answer in your head before answering. After you think of an answer, reveal the choices. ONLY choose what you thought of (no changing your answer after seeing the choices). If you could not think of anything or your answer was not in the choices available, hit the I don't know button.
Ultimately the same level of knowledge check, but much faster :)
