I have a question. and it's okay if you don't wanna answer but I wanna ask why you wanted to learn Japanese and why'd you pick this website for me I wanted to learn it so I could speak four languages (Spanish, ASL and English) so I could community with more people and I picked this website because the teaching is great
I wanted to learn Japanese because I though it would be nice to learn a new language and almost a year ago, I was looking for some Japanese learning apps and found renshuu in the app store and downloaded it because it had very good reviews but I had a hard time figuring out what's possible with renshuu and it was after 2 month when I was thinking about deleting it but then I found out you can create vocabulary schedules and much more so I kept it until this day!
I learn Japanese mainly for fun and I find kanji beautiful. I initially wanted to learn Chinese but got discouraged by its tonal pronunciation😅. I heard about Renshuu from a Twitter post not too long ago, and I joined this site right away. Wish I'd discovered Renshuu earlier because it has almost everything I need for learning Japanese, and the best part is that it has no ads (マイコー, you are the goat!). Right now I'm saving for Renshuu pro lifetime.
I wanted to try learning a language different than what I'm used to, and since the internet contain a vast content in Japanese, it also would help making it easier to try to immerse myself in the language without having to go to Japan myself. There are other different interesting languages like Tagalog and Hungarian for example, which I might find a lot of content on the internet but not as much as Japanese.
Also, now that I've discovered about Renshuu, it only gives me more reason to keep going with Japanese, I can't believe my eyes that something like Renshuu exists and let people learn for free without ads and this much features available to free users (I've checked pro perks and holy.. they sure have a lot of perks but free users aren't let to themselves to learn with too few features, you can do a lot on Renshuu as a free user - and they seem to make it worth for who pays for pro too, so many new things they get too so they do also have a huge value).
I remember that from 2013 to 2014/2015, Duolingo had on its mission that it'd be free and without ads to provide quality education for everyone without interruptions (you can probably still see through Wayback Machine, it was the first thing someone would read on the homepage), which we know how that turned out less than 6 years later..
I'm really glad that I found Renshuu and it truly only motivates me to keep studying Japanese
I learn because I thought it would be cool to learn. Tried learning on duolingo, but stopped since it seemed like too much, and I was lost on what I was learning. Then I found renshuu, which has honestly made it easier.
I'd also like to visit Japan since it sounds really nice. Also, I saw a video of that cat island, and immediately knew my life goals.
I dont fully rember why i even started all of this i assume it was just so i could watch anime like boochi the rock evem without any subtitles
however ever since i started i never really stopped either always being there but also not fully comitting to it either it kinda sucks to act like that since i didnt learn much since i startex when i was 15, and im 18 now
So much has happend in these 3 years and i wounder if any of that had an influnce on my performance
i also heard and wanted to use things like anki but i found them a bit to stale/monotone is the right word? And hard to get into espically since its a computer program and renshuu can run on android (i havent checked of anki can and even it does im not interested)
i also read multiple times learning a new diffrent language forms more/new neuron connections improving general function though im unsure if thats true
Actually I don't even know😅 feels like I was bored someday and thought "hey! Why not learn a new language?" and since I really like Japanese cultures (yes plural) I thought I'd go with Japanese and here I am😅✨
As funny a reason as it is, I saw a YouTube animation that was entirely in Japanese and it made me think about how many wonderful things I would never understand, unless I took the time to learn the language. That and I have a large amount of free time while I'm at work, and learning Japanese seemed like a more productive thing to do than scrolling on my phone for hours on end.
I started learning Japanese because I was bored 😅. It was during the COVID pandemic and I had so much free time that I just bought some workbooks and started studying. I had always loved Japanese culture and anime so it was an easy pick for me. And I’m so glad I did, I’ve made so many friends and made lovely connections. Now I’m studying for the JLPT and I’ve never imagined it would take me to where I am now!
I started using renshuu because my Japanese teacher recommended that I use it to get better with vocab and grammar. I feel like it’s better than any other language app I’ve tried, I love it!
I wanted to learn Japanese cuz Im into Japanese architecture as an archi student and I really really admire 上野千鶴子 the feminist sociologist - I want to understand her speeches and books so badly I decided to learn her language.
First, I really want to move to Japan in the future. Second, I want to make video games with Japanese dialogues and voice-over!
Third reason appeared later on- as I started learning, I got to know a lot of Japanese people while playing games thanks to knowing basics. Now I want to get rid of the language barrier even more!
I wanted to learn another language and thought it'd be cool to try it! I want to learn a lot of languages and I want to be able to translate games I make.
I am still mostly at the beginning of my journey... But I have multiple reasons.
Firstly, I watch a lot of Anime. That's how I learned what Japanese is. Now tough, I don't want to learn Japanese because of Anime alone.
Iam currently doing a technician degree and After I am done with it I want to go to a workplace that sends me to Japan to build or maintain machines (I can speak both German and English rather fluently, so having Japanese in my language profile will help me get a job more easily). I also want to watch YouTube Videos in Japanese or read those Japanese language Manga that I imported.
So... A lot of reasons. I hope they are understandable?
I started learning it because a few reasons, I've always loved Japanese culture and a lot of youtube videos I watch are in Japanese and I need to use subtitles. Also because since forever I've been a fan of vocaloid and those songs are also in Japanese :D my friend also was begging my to learn Japanese with her XD
