To bei able to read japanese well enough to consume manga, novels and jrpgs without having to rely in translations. There are so many great works that never reach the western markets that I want to experience.
I tried to start learning back in high school just because the sequel to my favorite game didn't get translated. Didn't get all that far in it though because I had too much other schoolwork to keep up with.
Discovered Renshuu a few months ago and decided to give it another go just for fun. There are a lot of games I'd like to play, maybe one day I'll tackle that original white whale of mine.
I've always wanted to learn a second la guage, though I lacked a good, useful reason to do so. Eventually, I started playing a lot of games that are made by Japanese devs. Final Fantasy XIV is a big one! As much as they translate stuff (or have fan translations) for us eventually, I figured being able to listen and read stuff directly from the JP devs would be really cool!
Once I had that idea, I eventually stumbled into renshuu randomly while looking at Google Play apps. I saw it had abnormally high reviews and figured it was worth a shot! Been enjoying it so far, and it's been very helpful! Can't wait until I can watch an interview with some of the devs and immediately know what they're saying!
