Every time I get a star question, I have a strong impulse to treat it like a tile arrangement question, so I often get such questions wrong because I'll click on the option that goes into the first blank, regardless of the location of the star.
The blanks in both question types look almost the same, except for the star. These two question types also require the same mental process, to (mentally or physically) rearrange the tiles. In the case of star questions, the input is immediately processed, without a Submit button.
I'm not asking for a Submit button, but it would be really helpful if there could be a stronger visual cue to differentiate the two question types. Perhaps the blanks in the star questions could be a different color?
I'll keep that in mind if I'm able to revisit that question type.
This is not directly related to your request, but just as an aside: I do not recommend the Star questions for anyone unless you are studying for the JLPT tests. They are completely divorced from the way that we think about sentence construction, and were added solely to help those preparing for the JLPT.
