For one thing, even though this reading isn't marked as "include this reading in my kanji quizzes" in the dictionary, it still showed up in this quiz (and is marked as such on the answer page). But also, uh, is this even correct...? This reading doesn't seem to be in the dictionary at all, unless you count the "negative ぬ form" of る showing when you search it directly - and even then, that's ねぬ, not いぬ...

If I'm missing something/misunderstanding something/misreading something, then my bad, but I think this is probably a mistake?

According to wiktionary, it’s an irregular reading from Old Japanese.

Derived terms

It’s not one of the approved readings on renshuu’s reference Jitenon, so Michael might decide to remove it. You can safely ignore it unless you’re going into Classical Japanese.
