As of summer 2024, we finished the full set of Pre-Intermediate/N4 grammar lessons, and released the new grammar schedule as well as the vocabulary pack that accompanies it.
We ARE already working on the Intermediate/N3 materials, but it will most likely take a year (or slightly longer) to have it 100% finished. Those lessons take a long time!
However, I am planning a different release schedule for the update materials so users do not have to wait as long for some of the revised materials (notably, the linked grammar/word schedule pack).
Planned/Hopeful schedule
1. All grammar lessons for N3 will be released as they are finished, and will be available under Resources > Japanese Lessons
2. Winter 2024/2025 - "lesson-less" schedule pack for N3. This will be identical in structure to the N4 schedule pack, it simply will not have the Japanese lessons appear when learning grammar for the first time.
3. Fall 2025 - completion of the gramma lessons, and addition of the lessons to the schedule pack.
(boring, logistic stuff)
Why does it take so long to get #2 done? We have roughly 150 different grammar expressions that make up our Intermediate/N3 contents, and we first have to group those into about 50 lessons with a specific order. This takes a lot of time, especially when trying to keep in mind which grammar expressions are commonly used in the sentences of other ones.
Once that internal list is completed, I will need to go through the roughly 2,300 grammar quiz questions (sentences) for N3 and check them for both grammar and vocabulary level. When the N4 quiz sentences were checked, roughly 35% of them were partially rewritten or removed to allow for newer sentences to be added that were a better match for the level of the learners.
Only once this is done can the vocabulary lists be generated (otherwise, we do not know which order the vocabulary should be added in the lessons).
