Is there really no way to import a list of words from a file in the Android app? If I view the list of terms of a custom list, there is an option to export to file. I use that and sure enough it creates a renshuu_export.txt file. Great, so how do I reverse the process and IMPORT a list from that file back in to renshuu?
Copy the list from the file you want to import to the clipboard, and paste it into the term search box when creating/editting a Renshuu list.
It's not possible to have a one-click import, because everything on Renshuu is linked with the dictionary; you need to manually select which dictionary entry you want for each term after searching.
Thanks for info, but that's unfortunate. I had a several thousand custom word list I had created which just disappeared from my lists. I do have the list exported to file from weeks back when I was testing export, but with no way to bulk import (specifically when the export was done by Renshuu) and not be able to recover my list without MANUALLY selecting all the words from the dictionary I had already selected, is just....
Ive had a few personal lists disappear or truncate (fewer words in the list for some reason) and was hoping there was a way to recover if I had an export file. Is anyone else finding custom lists this... flaky and unstable... or am I just lucky?
There is a button to automatically add all words that only have one hit in the dictionary, which would make the dictionary selection part faster, but you're right, re-creating a list that big will take effort no matter what. Unfortunately there's not a way around it, just because of how the dictionary works.
However, having lists disappear or randomly remove terms is definitely not normal behaviour and you should report it (using the ? button in the top bar) so マイコー can look into what's going on. I've never heard of that happening before, but a bug like that seriously affects half the functionality of the site.
I will play around and see if I can reproduce the list issues reliably for a bug report. My guess is Im triggering "something" when editing or updating lists, but its certainly not been from an intentional "delete" or "clear" operation that Im aware of. Thanks again for the replies.
Well I think I found a way to reproduce this with a small list. Pressing "Save list" from the dropdown shown in the below screenshot will in fact delete the list:
Yikes.
Definitely report that through the ? button if you haven't already. マイコー is on vacation rn so I don't think he's checking the forums, but he'll still get the message if it's reported.
Hi!
Have you already tried the text analyzer tool?
It can import txt files, full of words.
Hope you solve it!
