Hey hey, like the title says: what is your highlight of Osaka? Can be something big like Universal Studios to a small shop hidden away where they sell the best tea! Any cool spots that you know of? I want to know what is fun in that region Anything an hour from Osaka is great too!

Nanba Yasaka Jinja () is in Osaka and has a cool stage shaped like a lion head.

Osaka is close to both Kyoto and Nara (probably 30min or less depending on what train you take), which are full of beautiful temples and shrines (but would probably have lots of tourists). Kyoto has a kaleidoscope museum, it's only a little one-room gallery but I like popping in when I go.

Kobe is also about the same distance from Osaka, is less touristy, and has Ikuta Jinja () which is one of the oldest in Japan. Kobe has a great Chinatown, too, and you can take a cablecar up Mount Rokko, which has an observatory with a beautiful view of Osaka Bay at the top.

Shijōnawate Shrine is the only one I have personal experience with. It was pretty busy on New Year’s, but it should be fairly quiet the rest of the year. They also have a website in Japanese.

You might also be interested in Nozaki Kannon, which is a temple rather than a shrine.
