I also picked flashy instead of cute by accident... I reversed my Kao's evolution immediately. (This is my third Kao thus far and I have been happy with the choices I made for the others, though.)

that's exactly it. I happened to have my laptop open when Kao was in that form, and someone who happened to be walking past said "Ewww! What is that?"
