I'm not sure if this is already possible, but I don't think it's been suggested in the Kao Club. It would be nice if we could import kanji lists with custom definitions. For example, I want to use the KKLC for learning kanji and I want to have a renshuu schedule for it, together with its kanji keywords as definition. That way, I will be quizzed on the keywords rather than the sometimes long and diverse kanji definitions in the dictionary.

Ex.

Kanji -> Definition

-> FISHING

You can customize the meaning for a kanji, but as far as I know that applies to all your interactions with the kanji, not just within the context of one list. There’s no bulk import either that I know of, but that seems to be the smaller issue to me.

There is not any bulk import of custom meanings, sorry :(

Michael, as I recall you recently helped a user who wanted to upload a new set of index numbers for his kanji study. Might something similar work here? In other words, not bulk customization but another piece of data associated with each kanji. That’s assuming KKLC is open sourced, which it may not be.

I dont really mind if the custom definitions are global, but bulk importing kanji and meanings (with some kind of specified format) would be really useful if you want to import some kind of custom anki deck that you have. If I could take some KKLC deck, extract the kanji-keyword pairs, format it (with a script or something) and then just set the custom definitions in renshuu in bulk, that would be very convenient.

Right now, I started out by adding a kanji and setting a custom definition in a schedule manually, each time I learned a new one. The quizzing kinda gives away the answer in multiple choice questions, since the keywords are quite distinct from the real definitions. That's something I'm not sure about, too. Do custom definitions show up in multiple-choice questions, for alternatives that aren't the correct answer?

Either way, this would be a convenient feature. Having custom definitions per list would be useful, too.

Sorry, there was an error on renshuu! If it's OK, please describe what you were doing. This will help us fix the issue.
